GOOGLE GUIDE · ACCOUNT STRUCTURE
Google Ads manager account or individual account: what is the difference?
When organizing one brand or several projects, start by distinguishing the workspace that centralizes management from the account where campaigns are managed. This helps you describe the required asset, identify who authorizes the work and avoid inquiries based only on the generic phrase “Google Ads account.”
What a manager account does
A manager account, also called an MCC, lets you manage multiple linked Google Ads accounts. It is a separate account, not an upgrade to an individual account. The link organizes management while individual accounts remain separately identified.
Linking does not replace the account
According to Google, linking an existing account preserves its history and does not automatically grant administrative ownership to the manager. Record the link and administrative ownership separately. Before making changes, also check the billing responsibilities agreed for the project.
Choose a structure based on the work
Fictional example: a team oversees three brands with different responsible people and approval processes. Its map can record the three accounts and the management workspace used by the team. The relationship must identify who authorizes each assignment; sharing a login name does not resolve that planning.
| Requirement | Planning question |
|---|---|
| Manage one project | Which account and authorized person will perform the task? |
| Oversee several accounts | Which accounts need to be in the same management view? |
| Onboard a client | Who confirms the link and its scope? |
| Hand over a responsibility | Which permissions and dependencies need review? |
Available access and permitted tasks are different
Some administrative actions require particular permissions and, in certain cases, administrative ownership. When an action is unavailable, identify the operation and access level before recreating links. Google's error documentation helps distinguish those requirements.
Prepare the account map before making an inquiry
Use the inventory to separate missing assets from access that needs adjustment. We suggest assigning someone to verify each row and recording when the review occurred. The template organizes your information; it does not validate permissions itself.
If you contact CHAMPX, specify the type of asset and the concrete requirement. Availability and conditions are confirmed in the proposal. An account or management link does not guarantee ad approval or commercial results.
- The identity and purpose of each existing account.
- The person responsible for authorizing project access.
- The tasks the team will perform.
- Billing and measurement dependencies that need verification.
- The date and person responsible for reviewing account links.
